Artificial Turf FAQ

What is artificial turf?

As a substitute for natural turf, artificial turf simulates the appearance, color and shape of grass. The material of artificial turf mainly uses plastic, among which three polymer fibers are very common, including polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), or a fiber blend of the two. There are certain specifications for the production to maintain the length of the imitation turf. Consistent to ensure that the turf is flat and comfortable.

Since the early 1960s, artificial turf has been manually produced by textile companies in the form of carpet industry/craft. Later, after technological improvement, the new artificial turf was mechanized and scientifically processed to make it more simulated and wear-resistant, and it was also widely welcomed by users.

Where is the artificial turf suitable?

For a long time, artificial turf has been widely used in public facilities, schools and sports venues used in high frequency, such as gymnasiums, football fields, tennis courts, golf courses, track and field fields, community greening, public green spaces and so on.

In recent years, artificial turf is also commonly used in home or office landscape design and greening projects, including recreational space, landscape landscaping, balcony terraces, courtyards, nurseries, shopping malls, vertical simulation grass green walls, courtyards, and even temporary exhibitions and wedding decorations. There is an opportunity to use artificial turf or artificial turf.

Artificial turf is better than natural turf

Softer and more shock-absorbing

The advantages of artificial turf are numerous. Artificial turf with good construction and laying has better elasticity, comparable to the shock absorption function of real grass, and has extremely low anti-skid resistance, which brings less burden to the leg muscles and can be soft and support the user .

Will not breed mosquitoes

Compared with natural turf, the artificial turf is supported by fillings, which is not easy to wear like natural turf. Moreover, the soil in natural turf contains more trace organisms, so natural turf is more likely to breed mosquitoes or attract insects such as ants, or cause trouble.

Unaffected by the weather

Artificial turf is also less affected by high cold and high temperature weather. It is particularly resistant to ultraviolet rays and can maintain the stability of the material under strong sunlight. Artificial turf will not be affected by dirty, slippery mud, and will not freeze in water, and will not cause uneven turf due to accumulation of rain. It can provide the best performance in any weather.

Does not destroy the original ground

Because artificial turf does not need to be attached to the ground or fixed with nail holes during construction, it will not cause damage to the original ground material. In addition, the floor does not need to be re-paved, and the overall construction cost is definitely lower than that of natural turf.

Longer life

As for the lifespan of artificial turf, the durability varies depending on the frequency of use, but it can generally reach 10 years. Compared with the 2 to 4 years of natural turf, artificial turf can be said to be very durable. If part of the area is severely worn out, only that part of the artificial turf area needs to be replaced.

Simple cleaning and low maintenance cost

Artificial turf almost does not require maintenance and cleaning. Compared with the cost of cleaning and manual care of natural turf, artificial turf has good performance and price. Artificial turf does not need to wait for the real grass to grow, and it also saves the procedures of resurfacing, seeding, irrigation, pruning, etc., which reduces site maintenance expenses in disguised form, saves a lot of time and is economical.

In addition, it is more cost-effective to mark artificial turf with white lines and other materials, which will be more wear-resistant and wear-resistant in the long run, and at the same time save the cost of multiple marking and maintenance.

Better drainage

The drainage efficiency of artificial turf is also better than that of natural turf. The bottom of the artificial turf is provided with a drainage hole to prevent water accumulation by means of seepage and drainage. If the gravel foundation is laid on the ground before construction, some studies indicate that the water absorption capacity of artificial turf can reach 26mm per hour, and the efficiency is excellent, so it is recommended to use it.
